Basic infrastructure

Roads

In 2019, the length of the road network in Spain reached 165,443 kilometers, of which 17,377 kilometers corresponded to high-capacity roads.

Rail

15,820 kilometres made up the ADIF and ADIF-AV rail infrastructure network in 2022, of which 10,234 kilometres were electrified.

Air

46 airports and 2 heliports make up the Aena network, with 149,456 metres of expansion in 2022.

Sea

In 2022, the State-owned Port System was made up of 28 Port Authorities, which managed 390,168 linear metres of quays

Rolling stock

Roads

In 2022, the national vehicle fleet consisted of 35,668,443 vehicles, of which 131,109 were authorised for passenger transport and 533,792 for freight transport.

Technological capital

R&D and innovation

Companies in the transport and storage sector invested 81.8 million euros in R&D in 2022.
